Must Love Dogs

I fell in love with a dog person. That's actually an understatement … I fell in love with a serious dog person. Her world revolves around dogs. She wants to save every dog that she can. She lives to foster. I love her passion.
I, however, am more of a cat person. Cats are independent, self feeders and don't want or need a lot of attention. By contrast, dogs are very social animals. They live to please their owners. Cats live to torment their owners, but that's the subject of a future blog: Why In The World Would Anyone Want A Cat?
The first thing we had to do was to come to an agreement about where the dogs would sleep. She has always slept with her animals, and I never have. The compromise was to have the dogs sleep in the bedroom, but not on the bed.
Now I can't imagine what it would be like without the dogs. They've become a huge part of my life. I enjoy spending time with them and helping take care of them. I'm really enjoying our new foster right now. She's the best puppy in the world, and I'm going to miss her when she's gone. I just have to remind myself that we've always found the perfect homes for our fosters, and we will be able to save more dogs as long as we don't give into being foster fails.
If you haven't done so already, find a way to help one of these deserving animals. Adopting is not the only way. There's transport, fostering and, of course, just plain old monetary donations. Anything you do will benefit both a needy animal and you because doing good makes you feel good.
